This was another topic that a person picked out of the topic tables pouch last night that I wanted to answer.
Love is not a fleeting emotion that wavers and comes and go like the wind. It is an action. It is a choice. To love is to be able to give generously and unconditionally. It is to be observant and considerate of your loved ones. It is to give your time, money, company and assurance to your loved ones. Whereas to be loved is to receive gracefully, the good, the bad and the ugly. The compliments, the criticisms and the gifts.
Over the past decade the increasing number of divorces and breakups between couples speak volumes about our society. Are people these days giving enough or are they constantly on the receiving end. To continue giving endlessly, time after time can be tiring and can make a person feel exhausted with the relationship. However to continuously receive can spoil or even change a person's life. I believe for a relationship to flourish and grow, both parties have to recognise, understand and act out what it means to love and be loved. So I leave you with this statement again, love is not a feeling but a choice and action.
